Using Sajilo
Routine: breaks and screen time
Gentle reminders to rest your eyes, stand up and drink water, meal and bedtime reminders, and a week of your screen time, all kept on your computer.
Routine looks after you on long days at the computer: short breaks for your eyes and back, water, meals and bedtime, and a week of screen time.
Nothing about what you do is recorded. Sajilo only asks your computer how long ago the keyboard or mouse was used. It never sees which apps you use or what you type.
Turn it on
Open the Routine tab and click Turn on. You’ll get:
- Rest your eyes: every 20 minutes, look at something about 6 metres away for 20 seconds;
- Stand up: every hour, walk for a couple of minutes;
- Water: every hour, drink a glass.
Sajilo then asks When do you usually eat and sleep?: set times for breakfast, lunch, dinner and bedtime, or click Not now.
Click Show me an example to see a break card before turning anything on.
When reminders come
- Only while you’re using the computer. Twenty minutes means twenty minutes at the screen. Stepping away for 5 minutes counts as a break, so the timers start over.
- Watching a video or on a call counts too, even without touching the keyboard.
- Only during work hours (9:00 to 18:00, Sunday to Friday, unless you change them) and not on public holidays.
- Meals and bedtime come at your times, work hours or not, but only if you’re at the computer.
The break card
A small card appears at the top of your screen (at the bottom on Windows), with a chime and a funny line. It never takes over your keyboard.
- Done when you’ve taken the break. For eyes and standing, a ring counts down, and the break counts as taken when it runs out.
- +250 ml on the water card logs a glass.
- Remind in 5 min puts it off for five more minutes of computer use.
- Skip dismisses it.
Drag the card anywhere; it opens there next time. If eyes and standing are both due, you get just the stand-up card, since standing rests your eyes too.
The Routine screen
- Next break: what’s coming and when, or why nothing is (paused, outside work hours, a holiday…).
- Switches for each reminder. The Water row has + and − to log glasses, and shows today’s total against your goal.
- Last 7 days: your screen time each day (hover over a bar for the exact time), your daily average, breaks taken, days you reached your water goal, and your longest time without a break.
- Pause for 30 min, 1 hour or the rest of the day when you need to concentrate; Resume brings reminders back early.
Settings
Click Settings on the Routine screen:
- How often, how long: the interval for each reminder, how long eye and stand-up breaks last, and your daily water goal.
- Meals and bedtime: times and switches.
- Your own reminder: name anything, like Stretch your wrists, and choose how often.
- Work hours: From and To, the work days, Nudge me when work ends, and Quiet on public holidays.
- Remind with: a card or a system notification. This is shared with the other reminders.
- Funny lines and Play a soft chime.
- Turn off break reminders switches everything off, keeping your settings for next time.
Everything stays on your computer. Switching Routine off in Settings › Modules stops it measuring entirely.
